Whatever gets adjusted, smoothed and reshaped is the version that drifted from the original, though the app frames it the other way round. Using a filter is not a moral failing and nobody needs a lecture about it. The trouble starts when the edited one becomes the one you believe.

Put up something unedited now and then, not as a statement, just to keep the gap from widening. Notice how you speak about your own face when you are tired. What was designed on purpose does not need your approval to be true.
