God can handle your anger. The Psalms are full of people yelling at Him politely.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Anger does not have to be cleaned up before it is allowed in. People in Scripture brought God complaints that were loud, unfair, and specific, and none of that got them thrown out. Pretending you are fine is the one version God cannot work with, because it is not you. Honesty is a form of trust even when it comes out sharp.

If you are furious about something, say so directly instead of praying around it. Use the real words, the ones you would use in the car with the windows up. Then stay in the conversation long enough to hear anything back.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What would you say to God if politeness weren’t required?
