Loving the easy people is a warm-up. Loving the difficult ones is the actual workout.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being kind to people who are already kind to you proves very little. It is pleasant, it is easy, it demands no particular strength, which is why it builds none. The people who are difficult, who take more than they give, who are tiring to be near, are where actual capacity gets built. None of which is a reason to tolerate harm.

Pick one person you find genuinely hard and decide what a realistic amount of patience looks like this week. Not unlimited access, just steadiness. Keep your limits in place, and if somebody is hurting you, getting away from them is not a failure of love.
