Some answers only arrive after you stop talking.

You cannot hear anything while you are still making your case. Prayer often runs in one direction, a long list delivered at speed, and then you get up because nothing came, when nothing came because the channel was occupied the whole time. Silence after asking is not empty. It is the part of the conversation that keeps getting skipped.

Once you have said what you needed to, stay two more minutes without adding anything. Expect it to be uncomfortable and mostly quiet. Do it for a few weeks, because what arrives usually arrives later and sideways rather than on the spot.
