Shame says hide. Grace says come to dinner anyway.

Shame gives one instruction and it never varies. Get away, do not be seen, sort yourself out and come back when you are presentable, and the trouble is that obeying it leaves you alone with the exact thing that hurt you. Grace gives the opposite instruction and gives it before anything is fixed. The invitation arrives in the state you are actually in.
When the urge to disappear shows up this week, do the smallest opposite thing. Answer the message, go to the thing, sit at the table. You do not have to explain yourself to be allowed to be there.
Where do you hide when you feel you’ve disappointed everyone?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
