The worst case deserves preparation, not worship.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

It makes sense to prepare for a bad outcome, and preparation is a bounded activity that ends. Dwelling on it, rehearsing it, and organizing your inner life around it is something else, and it delivers no additional protection. The worst case deserves a plan and not your ongoing attention.

Give the bad scenario a defined block of time: what would happen, what you would do, what would help. When the plan exists, deliberately close it. Return to it only if circumstances change.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

How much time do you give a bad outcome you already planned for?
