Be thankful for the mistake that embarrassed you. It taught faster than any lecture.

Embarrassment burns the lesson in. The thing you got wrong in front of people is the thing you will never get wrong again, and no amount of good advice reaches that depth. The feeling is genuinely awful at the time, and it also does in one afternoon what a hundred warnings could not.

Look back at one of yours from a year ago and check what it actually cost. Almost certainly less than it felt like, and almost certainly other people have forgotten. Then use it: a mistake you already paid for is information you own outright, and you can hand it to someone about to make the same one.
