Be grateful before the scoreboard agrees with you. It changes how you play.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Waiting for results before you let yourself feel good puts your whole inner life in someone else’s hands. It also makes you worse at the thing. Playing from scarcity tightens everything: you grip, you play not to lose, you read every mistake as evidence. Being glad you are here loosens your hands before the score has any say in it.

Find one thing to be glad about before the next game, shift or test, not after: the people you get to do it with, or the fact that you are in it at all. Then notice whether you take a risk you would normally talk yourself out of.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Could you be thankful before anything in your season improves?
