A tiny win you never celebrate becomes a win you forget you earned.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Progress that goes unmarked does not register. Move straight from finishing something to the next item and there is no moment where the achievement gets filed, so a year later you have a vague sense of having done nothing much, despite a long list of things you actually did. Memory needs a marker or it keeps nothing.

Mark the small ones, briefly and without making a production of it. Tell one person, write the date down, take five minutes doing nothing before you start the next thing. It is not about self-congratulation. It is so that later you can see the ground you covered instead of a blur.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What small thing went right this week that you skipped past?
