Replaying last month’s cringe won’t edit it. It just makes you miss this month.

Replaying an old embarrassment feels productive, as though you are working on it, but nothing back there changes under review. What does change is the present, which gets quietly eaten while your attention sits a month behind. The loop is badly calibrated too: almost nobody else remembers the thing at anything like the resolution you do.
When you catch yourself back there, say the date out loud or name three objects in the room. That is usually enough to break it. If it keeps returning, write the whole thing down once, in full, and leave it on the page.
Which embarrassing memory still plays on loop in your head?
