Friends who grow alongside you are rare. When you find them, keep showing up for them.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Most friendships are held together by a shared situation, and when the situation ends they end with it. A few work differently: both people keep changing and the friendship changes alongside them instead of snapping. That is rarer than it sounds, since it needs both of you to be genuinely fine with the other becoming somebody new.

When you find one, do the unglamorous maintenance. Call rather than watch their posts, turn up for what matters to them, ask what they are into now instead of assuming. Those friendships live on attention rather than history.
