You’re allowed to grieve the old plan before you build the new one.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

A plan is not just a schedule but a picture of a life you had already started living in your head. Losing it is a real loss, even when the new direction turns out better. Rushing to the silver lining skips a step your mind will make you take later anyway. Sadness about it is not ingratitude and not weakness.

Give the old version an honest hour. Write down what you were looking forward to, specifically, and what you will miss. Then leave the new plan alone for a few days, and come back to it when you are not building it out of panic.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which plan of yours never got a proper goodbye?
