Change looks slow from the inside and sudden from the outside.

You experience every day of a change, so the difference between any two of them is imperceptible. Someone who has not seen you in a year skips all the intermediate frames and gets the before and after side by side. Both perspectives are accurate about different things. Your boredom with your own progress is not evidence that it is not happening.

Ask someone who has been away what they notice, and take the answer seriously. Keep a record you can compare across months rather than days. When it feels like nothing is moving, check the distance rather than the speed.
