Switching paths isn’t wasted time. You’re collecting skills from two maps.

Two years of something you left still happened to you. Somebody who quits a retail shift for nursing already knows how to stay calm with a stranger who is angry, and that is not nothing. Time only counts as lost if you decide nothing from it carries. Most of what carries is not the subject anyway, it is the habits and the nerve you built doing it.
Write down three things the old path taught you that have nothing to do with the old path. Keep that list somewhere you will see it. When someone asks why you switched, you will have a true answer ready.
What did you learn on the path you eventually left?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
