Losing shows character faster than winning. Anybody can smile while holding the trophy.

Winning is easy to be gracious inside of. Everything has gone your way, so generosity costs nothing and good sportsmanship is barely a decision. Losing strips that out and leaves whatever you brought with you, which is why a few minutes after a bad result tells people more than a whole season of good ones. Nobody is asking you to enjoy it. They are only watching what you do with it.

After the next loss, shake the hands before you look at your phone. Be disappointed out loud if you need to, just aim it at the result rather than at a person.
