Winning is the most dangerous time for a team. That’s when the leader has to stay the most humble.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Bad results keep a group alert. Winning removes the pressure that was doing that work, and it quietly rewrites the story so results feel like proof of who you are rather than what you did. That is when standards drift, credit gets taken, and everyone starts running on the last outcome instead of the next one. The decline begins while the mood is still good.

After the next thing that goes well, spend ten minutes on what nearly went wrong. Give the credit away in specific pieces. Then go back to exactly the same warm-up you did before any of it worked.
