Asking for help isn’t a leadership fail. Pretending you don’t need any is.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
Pretending to have it handled is a strange gamble where the downside is everything. It isolates you too, since people do not offer help to someone performing self-sufficiency. Asking gives other people something real to do and usually raises their estimate of you rather than lowering it. The person who never asks does not read as strong, just as unreachable.
Name one thing you are quietly struggling with and ask one specific person for one specific piece of help this week. Specific matters, because a vague request is easy to decline. Then let them actually do it.
Are you pretending to need no help at all?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
