Delegating busywork isn’t trust. Handing over something that actually matters is.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Passing off the jobs you did not want is just unloading. Real trust costs you something, because a task you care about can now be done differently than you would have done it. People feel the difference immediately. Getting the scraps tells them where they rank, and getting something that matters tells them the opposite.

Find one thing you have been holding because you do it best and give it away this week. Tell them the goal, not the steps. Then let their version stand even when it is not yours, unless it is actually wrong.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What real responsibility could you hand someone instead of the scraps?
