You don’t need a plane ticket to explore. Take a bus to the side of town you’ve never walked.

The feeling you are after when you imagine traveling is mostly unfamiliarity, and unfamiliarity is much closer than it looks. A few miles from where you sleep the streets are laid out differently, the shops sell other things, people move at another speed. Distance is not the ingredient. Not knowing what is around the corner is.
Take a route this week that you have no reason to take. Get off somewhere you have only ever passed, walk for an hour, buy something small. The point is not the neighborhood, it is finding out the world got bigger without you going anywhere.
Where in your own town have you never walked before?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
