Practice under a little pressure. The real test won’t wait for you to feel comfortable.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Skills are partly state-dependent. Something you can do calmly in your room can fall apart when there is a clock, a crowd, or a grade attached, because you never practiced the version with nerves in it. Adding a little pressure during practice closes that gap, so the real thing feels like a louder version of something familiar rather than a new event.

Build a little in on purpose. Set a timer, do one run in front of a friend, present standing up. Not enough to wreck you, just enough that your hands know what it is like to shake a bit and keep going.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

How could you add a little pressure to your next practice?
