Microwaved dinners and slow-cooked dinners both fill you up. Only one of them tastes like somebody cared.

REFLECTION
Effort is something you can taste. Two meals can meet exactly the same need and carry completely different amounts of attention, because slow cooking means somebody started hours ago with you in mind, and that intention gets into the food. It is not about anything being fancy. Plenty of the best versions of this are cheap and simple and took all afternoon.
Make something slow for someone once, when there is no occasion, and notice what the time itself communicates. When somebody does it for you, say so while the plate is still in front of you.
