Try summing up your day in one sentence before bed. You’ll find out what actually mattered.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Summing up a day forces a decision about what it was, and the choosing teaches you more than the sentence does. Fourteen hours get cut down to one line, and whatever survives is usually what mattered, which is often not what took the most time. Do it for a month and the pattern gets hard to argue with.
Write one line before you sleep, on your phone or the back of a page. No editing, no making it sound good. Read the whole week back on Sunday.
