Some advice arrives years before you’re ready to understand it. Save it anyway, like a key for a door you haven’t reached.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Advice needs something to attach to. Told at fifteen that most people are not thinking about you, you file it under obvious and it changes nothing; at twenty two, after a bad year, the same sentence lands like news. The words were never the problem. You had not yet had the experience that gives them somewhere to stick.
Start a note on your phone for things you have been told that you do not fully get yet. One line each, no explanation. Some of them will sit there for years doing nothing, and then one week you will read one and it will suddenly be about your exact situation.
When did old advice finally start making sense to you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
