Wear the nice shirt on a random Tuesday. You’re allowed to show up for an ordinary day.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Saving the good things for occasions worth them assumes most days are not worth much, and that assumption slowly makes itself true. Ordinary weeks are the bulk of a life. Treating them as a holding pattern until something important arrives means treating nearly all of your time as filler.

Use the good thing this week on no occasion at all. The shirt, the mug that only appears at Christmas, the pen you keep saving for something. A small ceremony on a Tuesday changes how the Tuesday feels, and there are a great many Tuesdays.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What are you saving for an occasion that never arrives?
