Fear always gets to finish its “what if.” Let hope finish one for once.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Worst case scenarios get told in full: the whole scene, the faces, the exact words that get said to you. The good version rarely gets that treatment, because picturing it in detail feels risky, like setting yourself up for a fall. So one side of the argument keeps getting all the detail and the other stays a blur.

Take the thing you are worried about and describe the good outcome as specifically as you have been describing the bad one. Where you are, who is there, what it feels like. It does not change the odds, and it does give the other possibility a hearing.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which hopeful outcome have you never let yourself finish imagining?
