A guitar string only makes music because it’s pulled tight. No tension, no song.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some tension is not a problem to be removed. A slack string produces nothing at all, and the note exists because something is being pulled against something else and held there. The same is true of deadlines, of expectations you have chosen, of caring about an outcome. Too much and it snaps, none at all and it just lies there.

Rather than trying to get rid of all pressure, ask whether yours is tuned. Which parts are the right amount, and which are pulled far past what any string can hold. Loosen the second kind, keep the first, and notice that comfortable and useful are not the same setting.
