A bridge is strong because it’s allowed to flex. Rigid things snap.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Strength is often mistaken for hardness. A structure that cannot move at all has nowhere to send the force that arrives, so it takes the whole load in one place and fails; one that gives slightly spreads the load and stays up. The same applies to plans, to opinions, to how you hold a bad week. Something that bends is not weaker.

Where are you being rigid because it feels like integrity? A plan that allows no change, a standard with no bad days in it. Leave a little give in one of them this week and notice whether anything you actually cared about was lost.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where would bending a little actually make you steadier?
