Your energy isn’t a public park. It’s allowed to have opening hours.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being available all the time trains everyone around you to expect it, including you. Availability with no edges is not generosity, it is the absence of a decision, and it usually ends with you resentful about something you never actually agreed to. Limits are not unkind; they are what make the open hours reliable.
Choose one window this week that is closed, and mean it. Phone away after ten, no favors on Sunday morning, an hour after school that belongs to you. Tell one person, so the limit exists out loud rather than only in your head.
What hours of your day should stop being open to everyone?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
