Be grateful for the quiet days. They’re the ones holding the loud ones together.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Ordinary days get treated as filler between the ones worth remembering, but they are doing structural work. Sleep, routine, an evening where nothing happened: that is where the recovery lives, and without enough of them the interesting days stop being survivable. Nobody tells stories about a normal Tuesday, which is why it is easy to undervalue.
Next time you have an empty evening, resist the reflex to fill it or feel behind. Notice it while it is happening rather than only when it is gone. One line in your phone about what was good about today is enough.
