Do your part, then let go of the result. You’re the player, not the scoreboard.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Effort belongs to you. Outcome gets shared with luck, timing, the mood of whoever is judging and a hundred things that were never on your side of the line. Mixing the two up means taking credit for good weather and blame for bad weather. What you can actually control is doing your part well, and that turns out to be enough to be proud of.

Before the next tryout or test, decide in advance what a good effort looks like. Prepared, on time, honest attempt. Score yourself on that afterwards and let the result be what it is.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What outcome are you gripping that was never yours to control?
