Closure isn’t a package someone mails you. Sometimes you have to sign for it yourself.

Waiting for the apology, the explanation or the message that finally makes it make sense can hold you in place for years, because the person who owes it may never send it and may not know it is owed. The ending is not arriving from their side. It gets built on yours, usually slowly and with no ceremony at all.

Write the thing you wish you could say and do not send it. Say out loud what you have decided it meant. Then give the whole matter less room in your week than it had before.
