Being by yourself on a Saturday isn’t the same as being left out. Sometimes you left, on purpose.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Alone and lonely are two different situations filed under the same word. Choosing a quiet night because you wanted one is nothing like being excluded, even though from outside they look identical, and even though your own brain sometimes mixes them up at eleven at night. Which one it is depends almost entirely on whether you chose it.

Ask yourself honestly which kind of Saturday this is. If you chose it, have it without checking what everybody else is doing. If you did not, that is worth acting on, by reaching out to one person rather than waiting to be invited.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Did you choose your last quiet Saturday, or just accept it?
