Humility shows up most when you’re alone with a compliment and don’t need to repeat it.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
It is easy to look modest in the room where the praise happened. The real test comes afterward, alone with it, deciding whether it needs to be mentioned to three more people before it counts. Needing to redistribute it means it did not land as information, it landed as supply. Actual humility can hold the thing quietly.
Next time something good is said about you, keep it for a day before telling anybody. Notice whether the urge to share is joy or hunger. Both are human, and knowing which one is running tells you something.
Which compliment did you keep to yourself instead of repeating?
