Not having a best friend right now isn’t a flaw. It’s just a season with open seats.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Closeness depends on timing at least as much as on character. People move, groups reshuffle, somebody gets a job or a relationship and the hours that used to be free stop being free, and none of that is a report on how easy you are to love. Stretches without a nearest person are common and rarely permanent. They feel permanent because there is no way to see the next one coming.
If you are in one, put yourself somewhere repeated rather than somewhere new, a weekly practice, a shift, a class. Closeness usually grows out of repetition more than out of anything said.
Who might fill an open seat in your life this year?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
