Have a few opinions you’ve thought through on your own. Not for arguing, just so you know where you stand.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Most views get held loosely because they were never examined, which is fine until something forces a decision and you find nothing underneath. Having a handful you have genuinely worked through is less about winning arguments than about having ground under you when a situation moves fast. You do not need many. Three or four you could defend beats fifty you inherited.
Pick something that matters to you and spend twenty minutes writing out why you think what you think, including the strongest objection to it. Keep it private. The point is knowing where you stand, not announcing it.
Could you defend one of your opinions without borrowing arguments?
