Being cornered usually means someone else understands the situation better than you do, or that you have only one way to be useful. Knowledge widens both. It lets you see what is happening and gives you more than one thing to offer, which makes you much harder to back into a single option.

Learn something adjacent to what you already do, particularly the part you currently depend on others to handle. Understanding your own dependencies is the fastest route to being harder to corner.
