Revenge is a subscription that keeps charging you long after they’ve forgotten.

Holding on to a grudge requires ongoing payment. You keep the memory maintained, you rehearse the scene, you stay slightly braced for years, and the other person has usually moved on and is not contributing anything. The cost is yours alone, which is the cruel part. What started as fairness quietly becomes a bill you keep paying.
Letting go is not the same as saying it was fine, and you do not have to forgive anyone on a schedule. Just notice how many hours a week still go to them. Try spending one of those hours on something you want instead, and see whether the balance shifts.
Who are you still paying attention to who forgot you entirely?
