Three hours of scrolling isn’t rest. Real rest is the kind you come back from with something returned.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
There is a difference between stopping and recovering. Scrolling halts the effort without giving anything back, which is why three hours of it can leave you flatter than when you sat down. Actual rest returns something: attention, energy, or the plain feeling of being a person instead of an audience.
Run the test for a week by noticing how you feel afterward rather than during. Try the other kinds, since sleep, walking, food with somebody, and an hour of anything using your hands all count. Keep whatever leaves you with more than you had, and be honest about what does not.
Does scrolling actually rest you, or just pass the time?
