Love can be real and still not be healthy enough to keep.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Love and viability are separate questions, and the assumption that real love is enough causes a lot of unnecessary suffering. A relationship can contain genuine affection and still be built on patterns that harm both people, and no amount of feeling resolves that. Recognising this does not diminish what was real. It only stops the reality of the love from being used as an argument against your own judgement.

If you are trying to decide, ask separately whether you love someone and whether the relationship is good for you. Answer both honestly. Leaving something real is one of the hardest things people do, and it is sometimes the correct thing.
