A relationship is a group project where you can’t let the other person do all the work.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Two people, uneven effort, and no teacher around to notice. In any close relationship, friendships included, one person usually ends up carrying the invisible work: planning, remembering, reaching out first, smoothing things over. It runs fine for a long time because the result looks the same from outside, and then whoever is carrying it gets quietly tired. Nobody announces that stage, they just stop trying so hard.

Work out which parts you have been leaving to somebody else and take one back this week. Plan the thing, remember the date, message first. Then keep doing it after they notice.
