Handing out trust like free samples doesn’t make you kind. It makes you easy to rob.

Being open and being trusting are two different moves. Handing everyone full access on day one is not generosity, it is skipping a step, and the people who take advantage are the ones watching for exactly that opening. Warm with everybody and trusted with everything by a few is not a cold way to live. It is how you stay able to be warm for years.

Go by what a person has actually done rather than how long you have known them. Share something small and see what comes back. If it comes back intact, share a little more.
