Whoever hands you everyone else’s secrets is already packing yours for the next person.

Somebody arriving with other people’s secrets is showing you the service, not doing you a favor. Information flows in whatever direction gets attention, and right now you are the audience, which is a temporary position. Nothing about the pattern changes when your turn comes. It is worth noticing without needing to make an accusation out of it.

Count how much of what they tell you was told to them in confidence. Hold your own material back and see whether the friendship still has anything in it. Not passing things on is unglamorous and it is the whole basis for people trusting you.
