The loud friend gets you through the door. The quiet friend notices when you want to leave. Keep both.

Different people are good at different halves of the same night. One of them talks you into the party and makes introductions feel easy, and the other reads your face from across the room and asks if you want to go. Neither skill is better and neither person is the backup. Groups go wrong when everybody is competing to be the first kind.
Work out which one you naturally are, then borrow a bit of the other this week. If you are the loud one, check on whoever is standing slightly outside the circle. If you are the quiet one, be the person who sends the first plan.
Does anyone notice when you are ready to leave a party?
