A tough coach’s yelling is noise. The standard behind it is the real lesson. Keep the standard, forget the volume.

LEADERSHIP
Two things arrive together and only one of them is useful. The delivery belongs to the person delivering it, their temper, their day, the way they were taught, while the standard underneath is often accurate and worth keeping. Separating the two is a skill, because volume makes everything feel personal. You can take the instruction without accepting the treatment.
After a difficult session, write the correction down in your own plain words. Leave the tone out of the sentence entirely. Over enough time you keep a set of standards and forget who shouted them at you.
