A borrowed goal runs fine until the first hard winter. One you picked yourself keeps its engine running.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Goals inherited from parents, friends or the internet hold up while conditions stay easy. Once something costs real discomfort you need a reason that belongs to you, and a borrowed one cannot supply it. The test is not whether you can start. It is whether you continue on a day when nobody would notice if you stopped.

Ask where your current aim came from and who first suggested it. If the honest answer is someone else, that does not mean dropping it. It means finding the part you would still want had they never mentioned it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which goal of yours did somebody else pick first?
