Asking “what could I do better?” takes guts. Most people would rather guess forever than hear the answer.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Not asking keeps you comfortable and uninformed at the same time. Guessing lets you imagine your weak spots are small, while the answer, if you invited it, would be specific and fixable. The fear is that the truth will be crushing, but most honest feedback is smaller and duller than the version you have been avoiding.

Pick one person whose judgement you trust and ask them for one thing. Do not defend yourself while they answer; write it down instead. You can decide later whether they were right.
