Starting over where everyone can see it takes guts. The people who watch you rebuild usually end up rooting for you.

Rebuilding in public means doing the early, unimpressive part while people who knew the old version are watching. That is genuinely hard and it is also the version where nobody has to be deceived about where you are. What usually happens is that the audience shifts from curiosity to support somewhere around the second month.

Tell people plainly that you are starting again rather than managing the story. Let the early attempts be visibly early. Most of the judgement you are bracing for does not arrive.
