Started drawing at twenty-three? Good. You bring twenty-three years of stuff to draw about.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Technique can be learned at any point; having something to say cannot be rushed. Someone who begins later arrives with jobs, losses, places lived and arguments had, all of which are raw material a very early starter has to wait to acquire. The years before you began are not lost time, they are content.
Put what you have actually lived into the work from the start rather than drawing generic subjects until you feel qualified. Draw the rooms you know and the people you have met. Technical skill will catch up faster than you expect, and it has something to carry.
What have you lived through that only you can draw on?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
