A dry spell usually gets treated as a failure of effort, so the response is to sit there longer and push harder. Often the real problem is upstream. You have been producing for weeks without taking anything in, and there is nothing new in the system left to recombine.

Go and get some input before the next session. Read something outside your field, walk somewhere unfamiliar, watch something old, and come back once you have something to react to rather than staring at the blank page again.
