Bitterness is a slow leak. You don’t notice until you’re stuck flat on the side of the road.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Resentment does not announce itself. It seeps, taking a little energy from conversations, a little warmth from people who had nothing to do with the original injury, until one day you are stalled and cannot immediately say why. The slowness is what makes it dangerous, since nothing ever feels urgent enough to address.

Name the person or event you are still carrying, even if the anger is completely justified. Say it out loud to someone, or write it down in full. Forgiveness may take a long time, and noticing the leak is the part you can do this week.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What resentment have you been carrying without naming it?
